more fun than the usual
My weekend was not an all out bore (though still VERY boring compared to my last couple months in London, which I still seem to be desparately hanging onto) so I'll write about it. And maybe give an overall update on what's going on. If I feel like it.
Actually went out on Friday. Was just gonna stay in, like always, after going for my caffeine dose at the Starbucks. But ended up going out to good ol' Halo with Aynz and friends. I used to go to Halo like every week because it is the so-called "mod- night" playing indie and new wave and brit rock and 80's dance hits and that stuff. My party music scene, I guess you might say. Plus the other folks that go there are pretty fashionable and rad, not like other lame places in Edmonton. The music there hadn't really evolved that much though. Not like in London, where they are so far ahead of the game that it's easier for me to be at least with the game. But I got to have one of my old favourite drinks, the Soho martini. Did it remind me of Nathan? Well, yeah, sure, but of course it would. I have yet to figure out that boy and it's a little tiring, so I'm leaving it for the time being.
I did not have to work on Saturday until 1:45pm but didn't wake up until like quarter after 1. Made it to work on time though but was pretty tired. I'm actually enjoying the Starbucks. It's sad, but true.
Did not do anything Saturday night, save for watch Star Wars: Epdisode III: Revenge of the Sith because I had to open on Sunday morning at Starbucks. Had to be at the shop by 6:30am. I was there on time, that's just bloody early. The shift went pretty quickly but the woman that was there to help us (shift supervisor from other store) was such a flake that the drink orders were piling up when it was busy so drinks were being made slowly. I was on bar with a huge amount of orders to be filled when I was supposed to be off and didn't realize the time. When I did realize the time I felt bad for leaving the drinks cuz there was only the other dude actually working (flake lady was on the sales floor talking to people and the other girl was sitting with her boyfriend). The other dude was doing the till stuff so I couldn't really just leave until someone came to take over. Then I remembered I had to cash out so I was pretty late in leaving. Just gets stressful when other people don't help out and do their jobs.
Went to the Wolfmother show. They were a pretty good live show, nothing overly special or unique about the show itself though, really. But they are a pretty unique band and it was a good 18+ crowd so I enjoyed it. I would have liked to hear Andrew Stockdale, the frontman I'm pretty sure, talk some more. He did speak about the flamingos in West Edmonton Mall, that was cool. Just so I could be reminded of the good ol' Aussie accent. Haha, it was funny at the show these two dudes kinda moved into our space and separated me from Robin and Gina and then we were talking over them loudly so that they'd clue in and since they were nice, they did clue in and moved back. And then I realized that one of them was Tyler, a dude I used to work with at Superstore. That was great.
Life in general has been fairly mundane. I'm working at Starbucks and a pet store. I don 't need a degree to work at the pet store, but here I am having one. I'm not really suited to working in retail/customer driven environments so that part is a little tough for me, since I know this and yet work there anyway. It's really a for the time being thing, but I don't know what I want to do with my life so I'm confused and lost. I do get to feed reptiles though. And touch snakes and stuff like that. But really, it's a grade 12 job. What I'm thinking about now is look into more courses and grad options, maybe some specific pre-vet things, or maybe even technologist stuff at NAIT. Gotta get the life in order, I guess, and stop holding onto the good fun care free times in London.
All that or get my British passport and live in a hostel (hating everyone, but a very few select individuals with whom I party with) forever. The boys were better over there.
